Reece: Eight Months

I feel like so much has changed over the last month. Reece has been doing SO much and seeming more and more each day like a big girl. She's still the sweet, smiley, happy baby that she always has been, and we love her more every day!

Her favorite things right now are:

  • Eating. She LOVES to eat.
  • Anything with apples. Her favorite fruit combo is apples and blueberries, but she snarfs down applesauce, apples-pears-bananas, and apples-bananas each time I give them to her. She could eat apples all day, I'm sure. Her least favorite fruit is peaches. She hates them.
  • Sweet potatoes. They're her favorite vegetable. Her least favorite: green beans.
  • Standing up to the furniture, entertainment center, kitchen/bathroom cupboards, and the door frames.
  • Chomping on her refrigerated teething toys.
  • Playing with her lotion bottles.
  • Blowing raspberries, giving kisses, and smiling.
  • Walking around while you hold on to her hands. She LOVES it, and will do everything she can (arch her back, pull up on your hands) to avoid being set on the ground.
Things she can do:
  • She's crawling! She gets everywhere and gets in to everything. I have already had to correct quite a few questionable edits Reece has made to this post.
  • She can say "dada", "nana", "yaya", and she says "mama", but only when she's crying/sad/upset.
  • She can stand up next to furniture/boxes/door frames for a couple of minutes. She's even starting to walk along it. Just a few steps at a time, but still. It's a little scary.
  • She can feed herself puffs, and she loves them! Reece figured out in the last couple days that it's much easier to get the puff into her mouth if she opens her fingers.
  • Make her mom smile even if I am frustrated that she isn't taking her naps.
Reece is also teething right now! And I wouldn't have ever been able to guess if I hadn't felt the little tooth poking up on her jaw! She hasn't been any different except for a little bit of increased fussiness when she gets hungry. Other than that, she's been her normal, happy self! Derek and I are so lucky to have such a good baby.

It is so fun to see her growing up and doing things on her own. I love seeing her learn from everything around her. She is such a sweet, smart, and determined little girl. She gets more lovable every single day.

Happy 8 months baby girl!

Reece: Seven Months

Reece is seven months. Past halfway to one. I must be dreaming, because there is no way that my tiny little baby is now this big seven month old girl.

She is learning new things every day! Her favorite things right now are:

  • Doing her little inch worm crawl across the floor. She gets everywhere!
  • She loves to be walked around. We have almost have to force her to get her to sit down. Then she'll sit up and play with her toys for a while, but within a few minutes she will have flipped over on to her tummy and is crawling around again.
  • Eating her vegetables! I am so happy that she loves to eat her veggies. Her favorites are peas, sweet potatoes, squash, a combination of green beans, peas, carrots, and potatoes, and carrots. She doesn't like green beans, but she'll eat them.
  • Music! And it doesn't matter where it's coming from whether it's one of her toys, my iPod, or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on TV, she will stop whatever she is doing and listen to the music.
  • Giving kisses. She will give the biggest, sloppiest, open-mouthed kisses. It melts my heart each time she reaches out to me and plants a big one on my chin.
She is the happiest most relaxed baby, but she can be stubborn as a mule. If she doesn't want to fall asleep, there is no making her fall asleep. It has to be her idea. She has the cutest, fiery little personality, and it's showing more and more every single day. We love our little Reece Averie!

She turned seven months on a Sunday when were in Utah with the Carsons visiting Devin and her family. So Reece and Hallie matched for church. Cutest thing ever!

Reece: Six Months

Whenever I would hear people talking about their babies and how old they are I always felt like anything 5 months and younger was still a tiny infant, but once they hit six months they became this big, grown up little baby. Contradicting, I know. And now Reece is six months. Now she is that big, grown up little baby.

Reece is growing like a chubby little weed! She weighs 16 pounds (50th percentile) and is 26.5 inches long (78th percentile). She was long and skinny when she was born, and now she's getting some meat on her bones! I love it. She's our little chunk and she couldn't be any cuter!

Some of her new favorite things are:

- Rolling around EVERYWHERE. I can't take my eyes off of her for a second when I'm changing her diaper or else I see a little naked bum rolling away from me.
- Saying "dada" over and over again. Especially when she's excited/angry/bored/happy/sad/tired. So... pretty much all the time.
- Hearing the itsy bitsy spider, little bunny foo foo, and you are my sunshine. Those always make her smile.
- Breathing in and out really fast through her nose when she gets excited or angry. She saw a video of her cousin Piper doing it and has been copying her ever since.
- Spinning on her tummy. She's getting really good at spinning around and has recently discovered how to scoot backwards.
- Reaching out and grabbing anything within her reach. Especially bracelets, binkies, clothes, or people.
- Watching Daddy dance like a crazy man. Makes her smile every time.

Reece is just the happiest most relaxed baby. Ever. She loves pretty much everybody and will go see anyone.  I love how she lights up every time she sees Derek. She is a smart little girl. You look at her and you can just see her wheels turning as she is soaking up everything you're saying and doing.

I am always torn between wanting my little, tiny, newborn Reece back and being so excited for all the fun things that are about to come! She is the sweetest little girl who has a smile for everyone at any time, day or night. We love our Reece Averie!
